Meze means “small plate” in Greek, but it’s also the name of the Boston area’s
favorite location for fine Greek cuisine. Boasting white stone and light oak in
an open setting with a perfect view of the stage-like kitchen that can be seen
from any table, Meze is the brainchild of Chef Paul Delios and his business
partner Bill Galatis. Chef Paulwho believes that dining is a shared experience
that binds family and communityoffers exciting twists on traditional Greek
cuisine by blending ingredients and cooking techniques from a wide variety of
cultures...all in a warm and inviting setting that’s perfect for everything from
intimate dinners to family gatherings. Meze also boats an ALL Greek wine list
one of very few in the United States.
Meze approached Bayleaf Communications, Inc. to build awareness of the
restaurant beyond the local neighborhood. In support of Chef Paul’s philosophy
of inclusiveness and community we built a public relations campaign targeted
primarily to women, wine lovers, and the gay & lesbian community. By
implementing a Women, Wine &...Shoes/ Handbags/Fragrances Program we
were able to give women the opportunity for great shopping while educating
them on Greek wines (women purchase the majority of the wine in the U.S.;
60% of the time women chose which restaurant to dine at; and while dining
90% of wine choices are made by women. With Greek wines just starting to
make their mark in the U.S. market we knew this was a great way to introduce
them to these new ‘new’ offerings to Boston and beyond. Hosting a special
wine tasting at the James Beard House in New York certainly helped with the
“beyond.”
Planning fun and exciting events such as regional wine dinners with Greek
vineyard representatives or a Torch Passing event from Meze to its sister
restaurant, Poalo’s Trattoria. in honor of the Olympics were just a few ways
to create excitement and tempt folks to enjoy a dining experience second to that
on the isles of Greece.
